Each of these essays provides examples of how it can be used by an average citizen to learn about the problems they face and actions that they can take to solve them. A lot of these points are quite bold but are relevant to today's society.'The War on Drugs' is a summary of the legal issues surrounding the war on drugs. The essay points out the hypocrisy of such a war and states the reasons why a drug is illegal and does not represent any problem. These essays, and others, show how individual rights have been violated by the government at large and how a person can use the courts to reverse the wrongful doing. It also discusses the b enefits of gambling to society and how the government does not even provide a safe environment for people to gamble in as it has created 'Dark Zones.' Each of these essays is very persuasive and could be used by anyone wanting to stand up for what is right in society.'The Fate of the Earth' is one of the essays included in the Give Me Liberty essay. It explains what we must do to preserve our environment and maintain our population. It discusses issues with health care and government policies, environmental degradation, global warming, animal rights, and the potential threat of genetically modified foods.'The Case for Democracy'The Peculiar Institution' is two essays included in the Give Me Liberty essay. They discuss political issues and shows how democracy is a more humane form of government. It also mentions that the United States was founded as a secular nation.'The Idea That Is the Other Answer to War' is a pamphlet by author, Eric Foner, that shows a different side of the war on terror than is often discussed. It says that most terrorism and killing of innocent life are actually self-defense or retaliation for crimes. The author states that no one knows exactly what the world will be like in twenty years, but that we must be prepared now if such a time should come.
